Late, great American photographer Laura Aguilar described her lifelong auditory processing disorder (read: neurodivergence from birth) as “auditory dyslexia,” which also goes a long way to explain mine. I’ve had state of the art hearing aids since 2019.

Helpful Accommodations for Meetings and Speaking —

  • Acoustics are challenging and require plans for public speaking.

  • Please avoid background noise and cross talk.

  • Name tags are great, nameplates are also excellent.

  • I need to see faces for comprehension. Masks are a challenge.

  • Google Meet has useful captioning for video conferencing.

  • While I have you — yes, please do always mic your gatherings. Live captions are also boss.
